Lunch with Papa posted on 06/19/2009
Sam and I met Sean for lunch today at the Marietta Diner and he had no interest in sitting in the highchair. He wanted to walk around and greet people as they walked in the door. It is getting more and more difficult to take Sam out to restaurants. After lunch I had a doctor's appointment and he had a fun time playing in the waiting room. That boy doesn't like to sit still for more than a few minutes. He is constantly on the move!
Sam has started doing the sweetest thing - he backs up to us and plops down in our lap with a book. He enjoys flipping the pages and pointing to different things so we can tell him what he is pointing to. I love it!

Sam likes the swing! posted on 06/17/2009
Mercy took Sam to the playground today and he finally likes the bucket swing. We have tried putting him in there a few times and he would get mad about being in it, but now he loves it. Yay!

Wha dis? and da? posted on 06/13/2009
Sam just started asking me "wha dis?" and "wha da?" It all started when he saw a little mole on my belly. This is how the conversation goes (over and over and over)
Sam: (pointing to the mole) wha dis?
Me: That is a mole.
Sam: (pointing to my belly button) and da?
Me: belly button
We pretty much have this conversation every morning and it always makes me laugh. He is also getting really good at saying bottle, but it comes out like "dot ool" and he can say done. He drops that word all of the time when he is finished eating and wants to get down from the highchair.

Lay back posted on 06/11/2009
Sam was cracking us up today! Sean has been teaching him "lay back", so now Sam will do it on command with no regard to what is behind him. Thankfully he was in our bed when Sean was having him do it today, so he would just fall back on the bed or the pillows. He gives a big smile before he falls back. We are having an absolute ball with him right now and we think he is at the perfect age. He is so much fun to be with and I love having him as my lil' sidekick!
The three of us went to Taco Mac for dinner and Sam was not having it. We have pretty much decided not to eat out anymore unless we are at Chick-fil-A because it is fast and they have a playground for Sam. It is just too much trouble to entertain him. He did okay in the beginning and even reached out for some of our chips and salsa. He munched down on some chips and it was funny to watch him eat them.

Da Plane - Da Plane posted on 06/10/2009
Sam and I headed to Costco today and as I was putting him in the shopping cart he kept making noises and was pointing up in the sky. I looked up and saw a plane flying through the air. I pointed to the plane and said "PLANE" and then to our car and said "CAR". I kept doing this until the plane was out of sight. He just smiled at me - so cute!
Sam enjoys going to Costco because he gets to munch on all of the free food they pass out. It is as if he knows he is allowed to have the food because he starts to grunt and bounce in his seat when we pass the ladies handing out food.
Jen and I walked our fannies off tonight and we have been jogging at the very end of our walks. I always feel so great after I get done exercising!

Sam saying Thank You posted on 06/06/2009
Sam said "Thank You" today to Gigi and keeps saying it to us. It isn't very clear, but he is definitely saying it. He is a little sponge and is picking up everything we are saying. We are working on the word "duck" with him because he is calling every bird he sees a duck. Ha!
Jen and I were back at our routine tonight. I am trying to get back into running like I did in college. Wow - I am starting to feel my age now because my muscles and bones do not recover as easily as they once did.

Lunch with the ladies from church posted on 06/05/2009
Sam and I met the ladies from church at Olive Garden. We were over an hour late because Sam took a long nap, so we arrived as they were being offered dessert. We still had a great time chatting and laughing with each other. Sam did pretty well; however, going out to eat with him has been a bit of a challenge lately. Now that he has gained some independence from walking he is not always content sitting in a high chair for very long. In fact, he really is into EVERYTHING now that he is walking. I love the fact that he can walk, but I do think about how nice it was when he would just sit in his Bumbo seat and was as happy as a clam. Now I am chasing him all over the house - good exercise though!!
Sam starting saying "Gigi" this week. It is such a sweet sound and it brings a big smile to my face each time I hear him say it. When he wakes up in the mornings he comes out of the room looking for her and will say her name over and over. So cute!
