Diego
posted on 04/25/2008

Well, it's for sure and for certain.  Stephen REALLY likes Go, Diego, Go.  He was fussing a moment ago, but, as soon as the theme song from Diego started in the tv, he calmed right down and started giggling and laughing.  He loves the Click the Camera song, too.  Right now he's starting intently at the tv screen, making noise and "talking" whenever Diego asks him a question or asks for a response.  Laughing

Crazy week
posted on 02/27/2008

It's been a busy week for us.  On Monday the weather was so nice; we went to the pool.  We didn't go in--it was icy--but we dangled our feet in the hot tub and watched the bubbles from the jet streams.  We were all dressed in our summer finest: me in a bathing suit top and sarong skirt, and Stephen in his cute swim trunks and UV blocking shirt.  He even wore his new ball cap.  It was so nice outside.  The breeze was cool and the sun was shining.  It felt great!

And right behind us, at the playgroud, were several kids with their mothers, all bundled in winter gear.  Winter boots, scarves, heavy coats, sweaters, mittens, and even woolen hats!  The mothers had heavy blankets and were wrapped up.  To ward off the warm breeze, I suppose.  They looked at us at the pool and seemed confused.  I was sweating just looking at them!

So that was our fun Monday.

Yesterday, Tuesday, Stephen had oatmeal cereal for the first time.  And he actually ate more than he got on him.  He seemed to like it, though I wouldn't say he loved it.

Then, last night, Stephen got the sniffles.  And a fever.  And the crankiness monster came out!  Stephen's nose has been stuffy and runny all day.  Last night he had a hard time sleeping, since the snot kept clogging his little breather, poor guy!

Today we've watched lots of cartoons, wiped lots of runny noses, taken a warm steamy bath, and not wanted to take proper naps.  Mommy's getting tired!

Aunt Mary came today for a visit from Chattanooga.  She'll stay for a few days, so hopefully Stephen's sickness is gone by tomorrow so we can enjoy him better.

Shots!
posted on 02/15/2008

Today was Stephen's four month check-up at the pedatrician.  He was really good.  He screamed during the four shots, but calmed down right away, and when we left he wasn't crying at all.  I'm nursing him to sleep right now.  Smile  He's such a good kid.

Amazingly, he didn't cry in the carseat to and from the doctor's office (which is only four minutes down Woodruff Road).  Usually he hates to be in the carseat at all.  But he was happily playing with his froggy friend, Lovey, and looking out the window.  Yay!

Love!
posted on 02/08/2008

I love my son sometimes so much that I feel like my heart's going to explode.  It's amazing.  I never knew I could love someone so much!  And sometimes, when he looks at me and smiles, I know he loves me that way too.  It makes me all warm and cozy inside.

Teething!
posted on 02/07/2008

Well, I wasn't sure at first, but after talking to a lady today at Port City Java about her four month old daughter's teething experiences, I'm convinced.  Stephen is beginning to teethe.  Fun!  He has become the Jedi Master of drool.  He likes to gnaw on soft items, like the edge of his sling, or a burp cloth, or even his fingers.  I can't see any teeth yet, but I'm sure I'll know when they appear!  Yeouch!

Health Department Visit
posted on 11/16/2007

Today we went to the South Carolina Health Department to sign up for the WIC program.  Now Mommy can get free milk and cheese and cereal and juice!  Yay!  Stephen was very good during the two hour wait--he slept snugly in his sling/wrap, nice and close to Mommy.  That was a nice change from his behaviour last night!  Last night he was cranky and had major problems latching on, so Mommy hardly got any sleep.  But Mommy's not too upset about it.  After all, Stephen's four weeks old and this is the first night he's kept her up all night.  If he follows this same pattern, she won't mind: one all-nighter a month.  Not too bad.  That's only 12 a year!  Here's to wishful thinking.  Wink

Rolling over--for real!
posted on 11/14/2007

Today Stephen is four weeks old, and today he rolled over all by himself!  He was in his crib on his tummy while I was putting away some onesies that are too small for him now, and, while my back was turned, he rolled over onto his back!  Yay!

Roll over, roll over!
posted on 11/05/2007

This morning, Stephen rolled over from his stomach to his back all by himself!  Of course, it's probably a fluke, since we were in my nice soft bed when it happened, but still!!  He likes to wriggle around on his stomach--not quite crawling or anything, but he does get around.  He'd squirmed up to be prependicular to the pillows at the head of the bed.  Since he had nowhere else to go, he scrunched his little legs under him and flipped over!  Cool  Yay!  Hopefully he does it again.  He's getting good at holding his head up, too, especially when he's on his belly, wriggling around.
