Belly Button!
posted on 10/31/2007

Today Stephen's umbilical cord fell off.  Now he has a cute little belly button to tickle!  Laughing

Yesterday we went to a costume contest at the Hughes Main Library downtown.  They had storytime and songtime and even snacktime!  Stephen dressed as a bee (black electrical tape on his yellow SwaddleMe, with wings made of old hosery and wire taped to the back) and I was his flower (flowers in my hair and taped on my shirt).  We had so much fun!  I can't wait till Stephen is old enough to actually appreciate these kinds of storytimes, since the library has them every month.

Sith Eyes!
posted on 10/20/2007

Stephen is battling a little jaundice right now.  We just got back from the pediatrician (the office is three minutes down the road, which is awesome!), who ran some tests.  So far, Stephen's in the moderate to high range, so we'll get checked again on Monday.  The doctor says it's nothing worry about, and I'm not too concerned.  All I have to do is make sure he eats a lot, and, believe me, my engorged breasts won't let me do otherwise!  LOL  But right now he just looks yellowish, with yellow eyes, like a Sith Lord or something.  Or Jabba the Hutt--doesn't he have yellow eyes?  Though my little chunky-face is not quite back to birth wieght yet, so I guess he can't be Jabba, .  :-)

Birth

Well, getting induced was interesting and birth was an experience.  I'll post a more complete description later, but suffice it to say for now that I'm glad it's over and I have my little Stephen in my arms.

Labour??
posted on 10/07/2007

I MAY be in labour.  I've been having contractions for the past three hours, but they aren't on-the-dot regular--they're fluctuating from every 8 or 10 minutes to every 5 minutes and back.  They're lasting about 20 to 40 seconds.  But they don't hurt.  It's just a tightening feeling over the front of my extremely large belly.

The doctor told me a few weeks back that I should wait to go to the hospital till I couldn't bear it anymore.  Well, I can still bear it, so we're waiting it out.  I figure if I can't sleep at all tonight, then maybe this is the real thing.  We'll see...

So, the baby's getting bigger--and making me get bigger, too!  I can hardly fit in any of my "fat clothes."  Yesterday I tried to wear a button down shirt that's always been baggy on me . . . and I could only get two of the buttons buttoned.  I'm FAT!!  LOL  I guess I'm just going to have to give in and get more maternity clothes.  Two pairs of pants and one sweater just isn't going to last till October.
