Tristan's 2nd tooth
posted on 02/10/2008

Yup, he got his first and second tooth all in the same week. Poor baby, between Croup, teething, and all the meds he's on this has been a rough week for him but as usual he has been a trooper. Except for a day or two he has been smiling, laughing, and playing with us.

Tristan's 1st words
posted on 02/08/2008

For the last few days Tristan has been saying ma-ma and da-da. Nana heard it first and I thought she was just wanting to hear it but then today he has been going non-stop. He is also saying ka-ka (it's spanish slang for poo, Nana says it to him everytime he goes to put something in his mouth that he shouldn't lol). I can't believe how many milestones he's reaching this month alone, he is getting so big and we are so proud of him.

Tristan's 1st tooth & 1st trip to the ER
posted on 02/04/2008

Hey Everyone

Things have been hectic for the last day. First Tristan got his first tooth on Sunday (or that is when we could feel it above the gum line). Then this morning we had to take him to the hospital, he was having trouble breathing. It turns out he has croup (an infection in his airway) and was given a breathing treatment, a shot, and they took x-rays to make sure he didn't have fluid in his lungs. The x-rays came back clear and he was sent home. He took a long nap when we got home and has since had a bottle and is now playing in his exersaucer. He was a trooper thru this all, he only cried for the needle and even sat still for the x-rays. Now we just watch him to make sure he doesn't struggle to breath and we have a follow up tomorrow. Oh and they weighted him in the hospital and he's up to 22 lbs & 10oz.

7 month update.
posted on 01/19/2008

Hey guys,

Just a little update, Tristan is crawling around! He takes a few "steps" than flops on his tummy but he gets back up on all fours and he's off again. He is quick too so we have to really watch him. He's also being a big boy and holding his own bottles now when it's time to eat. Once in a while he shakes his bottle and spills milk on his face or on the floor but for the most part he keeps it in his mouth. He's been on baby food now for over a month and seems to prefer vegetables over the fruits. So far the only food he didn't give me a funny look when he first tasted was Peas, his funniest face came with the sweet potatoes. Also once we stopped the rice cereal he started "going" more often (and it's more smelly, ewww lol). Once we move out of here we're going to buy him a walker so he can be more mobile (I know I can't believe how times fly, he's ready for a walker already). There just ins't enough room here especially with the boxes. He still loves his Sponge Bob Squarepants cartoons especially the theme song lol. He also loves talking to his big sister on the phone, he always laughs at her and tried to "talk" back. He also has a bit of a social life going on, he has 2 birthday parties this weekend and another next weekend.

Well guys, thanks to those who have left picture/journal comments and who continue to sign our guest book. We can't wait till Tristan is older and can read the comments and see the pics of him as a little baby.

Love and Hugs

Jess, Mat, and Tristan.

Tristan's Appointment with the Pediatric Urologist.
posted on 01/07/2008

Tristan has an appointment with the specialist on March 12, 2008 at Maimonides Hospital in Brooklyn NY. I spoke to the nurse who assured me this is a very routine procedure that the doctors have performed numerous times. I'm still a nervous wreck! The actual surgery will be preformed at a hospital in Long Island NY where the specialists have privileges and a very good pediatric ward. Please keep our lil Angel in your prayers.

6 Month Check-up.
posted on 12/11/2007

Tristan had his 6 month appointment today. He weights 19 lbs 12 oz and is 27 3/4 inches long. He got 3 shots but he was very good and only cried when the needle went in. We also got a referral to a urologist for his wee-wee. The doctor said he was big for his age, in the upper percentile but he is very healthy and his activity level is very good. He can now start stage 1 baby food, once a day and only 1 new food per week to look for food allergies. When we got home I gave him some applesauce and he seemed to like it. Oh the doctor also told me to stop the rice cereal because that is what causing Tristan to be constipated, to only give him only oatmeal and barley.

posted on 11/25/2007

Hey Everyone,

Tristan's 1st Thanksgiving went very well. We spent it with family and even got to meet Tristan's newest cousin Lily. He doesn't have teeth yet so he didn't get to taste all the yummy food we had but next year he'll be able to chow down with us lol.

Happy Halloween
posted on 11/01/2007

Hey Everyone

Tristan's first Halloween was such fun! We went with my Mom, Sister Alex, and her friend trick or treating and he even got candy lol. A little boy on my mom's block, about 2 years old handed Tristan a little bag of candy, it was too cute. He wasn't scared of all the crazy costumes and behaved himself the whole time. I have to say he was the only Monkey we saw out but even if he wasn't he still would have been the cutest lol! Next up, Thanksgiving.
