Speech evaluation.
posted on 02/11/2009

So today was the inital consultation. Based on the criteria Tristan should have about 20 words in his vocabulary and understand 2 step instructions (i.e pick up that toy and put it on the shelf) but he only has about 5-6 words and doesn't understand instructions. He is fine with everything else (pointing to body parts, coming when you call his name, makes great eye contact, points to something he wants, etc.). So our next step is to have another worker come to our home and do some more tests to make sure he is speech delayed. If he is then we will get early intervention services by teachers and social workers twice a week for 30 minutes. The worker today said we should see results in about 3 months. We are just very anxious to get this process started and see results.

Yeah, Eli didn't talk much oast single words until the week before his 2nd b-day, and then he started using simple sentences...all at once. But Liz talked for him, so what did he have to say? He was exceptionally skilled at nodding his head yes & no!
