Underwater Baby Boot Will, better known as the beet       dolphin

And the ultrasound said....

I had my ultrasound earlier this week. The placenta is well out of the way now, and Will is a very good size. Especially his feet. The technician said, "Whoa! Those are some feet!" when we were taking the picture of his little kick-pads. The average baby weight right now is about two pounds. Will weighs just over 2 1/2 pounds. Based on his measurements (head, belly, femur), he's at a gestational state of 28 1/2 weeks. Considering I was barely 27 weeks when the ultrasound was done, I'd say we're gonna have a big boy on our hands! Please, please let him be born this year!!! If he's born this year, we'll get the tax deduction and that means I don't have to go back to work. We can use that to pay our property tax, which is the only concern for us just living on Steve's income. I really, really want to be a stay at home mom if it's possible. If the economy keeps sliding the way it has been, I'd be hard pressed to find a job at all, if I had to.

Steve gave me a pressure cooker for our anniversary, so I can start canning and preserving. I'm really excited about that. I want to have a big garden next year, and preserve a lot of the surplus from that, but I can also buy things in bulk that are in season and preserve them. I'd like to know at least the basics of what I'm doing by the time the garden is producing and I'll be doing a lot of canning.

Lil' Will has been really active since we got back from Seattle. He hardly made a peep the whole time we were there, but as soon as we landed in San Diego, he's been practicing his soccer kicks every day. It used to be that he'd have active days and inactive ones, but now he's got active hours and inactive ones. That's okay; it just takes a little getting used to. Sleeping is getting more and more interesting all the time. The past several nights, I'll wake up after about six hours sleeping on my side, and my ribs are killing me. They're so painful that if I keep trying to sleep in the bed (in ANY position) it'll make me cry. So I have to get up and sleep in the easy chair the rest of the night. I've got an ottoman and make good use of some extra pillows to be nice and comfy. It's just weird to sleep sitting up. But, hey, it's the only way I'm comfy, so who cares? I'm sure things are only going to get more interesting from here on out.

Oh man, I hope the rest of the pregnancy goes quickly for you. Sleeping only gets worse and worse! And I hope he comes before January 1! That would be awesome if you could stay home.

There is probably a pretty good chance of you having him by the end of the year, considering how big he is. If he gets too big they will more than likely induce you. You just might get your wish yet of Will being a 2008 baby!!!
