1 Week to Mothers Day.....

Hello everyone,
As you can see, it is one week today to Mothers Day... Last year for Lisa was a rough 1st Mothers Day, and I am hoping that this year, will be a little better one... Lets hope Wyatt has a great week this week, and stays on the more stable side, and keeps progressing towards waking up, and getting off the vent! What a great Mothers Day gift that would be for Lisa. Wyatt has also been a busy little boy while his Mum is off doing things, like sleeping or eating, and has been shopping. What a good little boy
We have taught him well already, to be a good little shopper!
Wyatt has had a fairly stable couple days, in Wyatt terms at least!
He got his new line in down in IGT, and lucky for Wyatt, they got it in on first poke! That in itself is pretty miraculous with Wyatt! Guess he felt like being co operative that day! So, it works the same as a PICC line, it just goes in at a different spot, kind of below the collar bone, and towards the middle of the chest, and sits above his heart. It is in through a bigger vein or artery, so it is less likely to clot. It has been working well so far, and does not seem to be bothering him at all. He also has another IV in his foot now, that they are using for some things. Lisa was telling me that she was lucky she was standing there when he lost his CVL line in his neck that morning, because it is through a main artery there as well, and when it came out, it was gushing blood everywhere. She luckily saw it, and pressed on it right away. She had to hold pressure there for about 15 minutes, so Wyatt was not very happy with her. They did try to get that one back in, but couldn't.
They have started his food back up, and are increasing it by a ml every 24 hours. He was up to 3ml last night, so if all goes well, tonight he will get up to 4mls. His digestion seems to be moving a little better now, as they are still working on decreasing his morphine every 24 hours as well. He is now down to 34mcg . He is not really awake still, he will flutter his eyes a little bit, as if to check and make sure Lisa is there, and then he closes them again. He is however, kicking his feet like a madman, and moving his arms, especially when he gets mad.
He is having to be suctioned quite a bit still, and is still making those spit bubbles, and boogy bubbles from his nose. He does NOT like to be suctioned.
His heart rate is all over the map, it is up and down like a yo yo, all day long. They started him back up on the heart rate regulating meds, but a little less of a dose. His heart rate is going anywhere from 80 (which is when the pacemaker kicks on now) up to in to the 200's.... the odd thing is, it is not really sitting anywhere, and just keeps going all over the place. The nurse was explaining that since his other numbers (BP, sats etc) were fine, that they wouldn't really do anything about the heart rate being all over the place. They just monitor him, and that sometimes we jsut have to accept that these things happen and we don't know why, but hopefuly, with time, it will stop.
He has been getting ativan and or chloral when he gets really wound up, to calm him down, since his morphine is down so much. They are also giving him meds for withdrawal, since he will likely be going through that as well. But they would rather give him that and get him off the morphine, and have to give him ativan or chloral to calm him, than keep him on morphine.
He has had visitors most days, Maama went on Thursday, Grandpa and Grandma on Friday, Granny Cels, Grandpa and Grandma, and myself all on Saturday, so they have company a lot of the time.
That is about all I know for now, there is a new Dr on now, since it is the beginnng of the month, so this Dr will be on for the month of May, so we will see what ideas he has with Mr Wyatt! Apparently everyone there thinks Wyatt is very interesting, and he is good to study!
I will update again soon, hopefully he had a good night!
Also, can I take a moment to remind everyone of the upcoming Golf Tournament.... For anyone that is interested, the Money raised is going in part to the Cardiology Department at SickKids Hospital through the SickKids Foundation, and in part to Wyatt. The tournament is on Saturday June 7th, and anyone is welcome. For anyone who is not a golfer, you can come for dinner only, if you would still like to help support the cause, and also raise awareness for Congenital Heart Defects. Tickets for golfers are $130 each, and that includes round of golf, cart, and a full steak dinner. Tickets for dinner only, are $30. We will be having lots of prizes, draws, and a silent auction. Please come on out, and help support this great cause. Please also pass this along to anyone you may know who is a golfer, as all are welcome! We need confirmation of sign up by May 15th! We also are looking for prize donations, as well as hole sponsors. Please contact me for any further information wyatts-warriors@hotmail.com
