15 mo. Check-up
posted on 05/19/2008

Today was Zoe's 15 month well baby check-up. Everything looked great the doc said. She is growing just like she should. Still little for her age, but he said she's gone from the 5th percentile in weight to the 19th. WOW! She's gained a whole pound since her MiMi took her to the doctor Friday before last.. That's great.

Her ears/tubes looked good. She also had to have 4 different shots. Poor baby! She was very brave though. She even got a sticker when we were done. We go back for 18 month check in August (I'll be sure to schedule that one where Justin can take her). Hopefuly no shots then...

Baby Dedication
posted on 05/11/2008

We dedicated Zoe to the Lord on May 11th, 2008 (Mother's Day) --- what a great mother's day gift! It was an awesome day. We had it done at Covenant Family Church in College Station, where I used to be a member and Dana still is. Not to mention it was halfway between Waco & Houston..how convenient. We met that morning at 10:30 to get Zoe dressed in her beautiful dress that had little crosses all over it. Then we took a few pictures and the service started at 11:00am.

They called all the parents and children that were being dedicated up on stage and we went down the line and introduced ourselves and our kiddos. (Justin, being the wimp that he is, made me do the introducing). Tongue out Once service was over we all went to Olive Garden and had lunch. We had a pretty good turn-out: me, Justin, Zoe, my sister, mom and Nana, Dana, Yvette, her friend, Heath & Melissa, Steve & Tamara. Justin bought my lunch for Mothers Day, and even got me a nice card that sings. It was very sweet! Awww... Then we went outside and took some family pics and made the long journey home.

Zoe's First Major Incident
posted on 05/05/2008

Zoe finally had her first major boo-boo. She fell at daycare today while playing in the play room. There was this big metal/steel thing in there that holds a bunch of the kids toys. She apparently fell and hit her forehead on the bottom part. There is a huge gash right above her eyebrow...It is actually pretty deep and about as long in length as her eyebrow. Poor baby.

The director of the daycare called me about 3:30pm and told me what had happened. Said she was very brave and only cried for like 30 seconds.. I picked her up and we went to the ER and saw the doc. She said Zoe definitely needed stitches; that the glue adhesive whatever wouldn't hold it. Too deep. Especially where those eyebrow muscles move all the time.

They wrapped her up in a blanket like a little burrito and one nurse held her head still while I held her body still Cry and the nurse gave her a shot right in the gash!!! OMG. Justin would've fainted right there.... hahaha. Once the shot kicked in, she started stitching away. She ended up getting 5 stitches total. She cried the entire time, but once we were done and unwrapped her she was ok. She even played in the car on the way home. I'm giving her Tylenol every 6 hrs and we have to put triple antibiotic ointment on the cut 2x a day. We go back in 5-7 days to get stitches out.

I just pray it wont leave a bad scar on her precious little face, or mess up the way her eyebrow grows. Either way, we were very blessed that it was above her eyebrow and not IN her eye. Thank God.

Zoe's Check-Up
posted on 03/31/2008

We went for her routine check-up last Thursday. Everything was great. She hadn't been feeling well and her ear was clogged and infected again. At the check-up they looked in her ear again and the drops worked...her ear was clear! She had also had a really high fever and then she got a rash all over... couldn't figure out what that was from.. roseola - if it's not one thing, it's another! Her rash is gone now too though.

She is feeling excellent this week. Her whole attitude and mood is so much more like herself again. Thank goodness. We're transitioning from the bottle to her sippy cup (for good) and I'm trying to get her off her pow-pow (pacifier) unless it's nighttime... that's not as easy as the sippy cup transition...

She also got her 1 year shots. She was super brave! It's so sad to have to hold her down while they stick those needles in her leg. It's heartbreaking... We have to go back in 3 months for the remainder of those shots. Cry

I've finally posted the Easter pics and a couple random pics from this month! Enjoy!

I'm retarded...
posted on 03/27/2008

I've been doing journal entries, but haven't been clicking the publish draft button.. so they were just sitting there. Sorry!

Zoe is feeling a little better this week. Her temp finally broke on Tuesday (started on Sat). I took her to the doctor on Monday and he said her left tube was clogged and she had another ear infection! She was already on antibiotics from Sat when she was with her daddy... so that was good. He said to start doing the ear drops again that they prescribed after her surgery and hopefully that would un-block the gunk! If not, I'll have to take her back to ENT specialist and they'll have to suction it all out. He said it's common to get clogged, but not this early?? Poor baby.

She also started in her new classroom this week. They moved her to the toddler room. They say she's doing great!

We go for her 1 year shots today. Hopefully they will go ok. I'm gonna ask about the certain ingredient that is linked to autism. if it's in there, she won't be getting that vaccination!

Hope everyone has a great weekend! Talk to you soon!

Happy Easter!!
posted on 03/22/2008

Hey everyone! I'm SO sorry I haven't uploaded the video of Zoe walking. I know how anxious everyone is to see it! My sister doesn't know where her cord is to connect to the computer and Justin let me borrow his, that's supposed to be universal, but I can't seem to make it work! I will keep trying.

Zoe got to hunt eggs 3x this year. They had an egg hunt at daycare Thursday, then she hunted with her daddy Friday evening and we had another hunt once I got her back to Waco.  She's not feeling well again.. Justin called Sat. morning and said when he woke her up she had snot all over her face, in her hair, her ears, and eyes.. poor baby! I think he's going to take her to a walk-in clinic today and try to get her on some more antibiotics.. She just can't seem to stay well...

I hope everyone had a nice Easter! Take care.

First Steps
posted on 03/15/2008

OK. As most of you know, Zoe took her first steps this week!! Finally.. It was the most amazing thing ~ I about flipped out. At first she took about 3 steps and we all yelled and shouted (me, mom and Jess).. we were all there to witness it. But I think our yelling kinda scared her and she fell to the ground...like "What did I do?" She got back up and walked from the recliner in the living room to the dining room table this time (which is what I got on video)..Unfortunately I don't have the receiver that goes from the camcorder to the PC...I'll ask my sister once she gets home if she has one (it's her camcorder) and hopefully we can get the video on there tomorrow. If not, I'll go buy one and get the video on here. I know you're all DYING to see the steps. Surprised

I also updated the photo section with some pics we took at the zoo a couple weeks ago. My sister has some better pics on her camera; I'll get those posted as soon as I can get ahold of her camera... I'm not as organized as Steph, nor do I have a job that allows me to play with her website/photos at work...So you guys have to bear with me on timely updates! I don't have a second to think when I get home in the evenings, much less upload photos! Laughing Check back soon for more pics! Have a great week and HAPPY ST. PATRICKS DAY!!

She's a Trooper!
posted on 02/29/2008

Zoe breezed through her surgery this morning. She did great. We got there around 6:45am and had to wait for one other baby to get her tubes put in first and then it was our turn. They started around 7:45 and we were gone by 8:30. It was very quick. She was a little groggy at first and we gave her a bottle and went home.

She ate a little breakfast and played then took a long nap. Woke up....ate a big lunch and played some more. She doesn't even seem like she had surgery. The surgery apparently wore her daddy out too.. it's 1:15pm and he's been asleep since 9am.. Laughing

We also got her weight this morning... she is finally 19lbs. Almost ready for a big-girl car seat! Thanks to everyone for keeping us in their prayers today.
